birth support

Our holistic approach to birth is based on a foundation of trust within our physical and spiritual body and the innate wisdom we carry, as women, to give birth. What is commonly experienced in today’s birth culture deviates from physiological birth and the mind body connection.

Pregnancy + child birth can be challenging and layered, however, WOMB+WISDOM is a place for women to be seen on a different level and supports the opportunity for self exploration, along with a deeper understanding of birth and its longstanding impact for you and your baby.

You do not need to be rescued or protected from this experience and we will walk alongside one another to create your most empowered transition to motherhood.

  • whether it be a phone call or meeting up for coffee, it is important to me that we dedicate time to see if we are a good fit and discuss any initial questions you may have.

  • pregnancy and birth can bring up lots of excitement, many unknowns, and tons of questions as you begin to dissect the loads of information coming your way. you will receive education tailored to your pregnancy and local resources along with opportunities to gather and find support in the community, one on one support via phone and email throughout your entire pregnancy, and encouragement to help you manage it all. Birth support includes (3) prenatal visits, birth support, and a postpartum visit.

your investment ensures you have a back up doula who shares my same approach to birth in the unique instance i would not be able to provide in person support during labor or birth. we will touch on some childbirth education topics although i will provide you with local resources for childbirth education classes. WOMB+WISDOM Birth Services does offer a large lending library with books on many varying topics for families to utilize during our time together and postpartum.

  • prenatal visits with me as your doula are much less traditional than a care provider and more intimate. we will have three prenatal visits together- two in home visits to deep dive into what topics are coming up for you (and your partner) throughout pregnancy, and a third built in visit over lunch, coffee or in home to connect deeper emotionally. throughout my own pregnancy i recognized how crucial a third one on one visit could be and how nice it was to connect more frequently with my birth keeper than i ever had before with a client, bringing to the forefront that if i were in need of this i am certain other women are, too!

we will always prioritize hearing anything you have to share- let’s sip on some nourishing tea and dive into it!

other topics worth mentioning include education on nutrition, wellness, pregnancy FAQs, ways to prepare for the rest of pregnancy, local resources and classes, shopping lists, birth preferences, and postpartum planning.

  • every mama + baby has their own timeline which is why you will be provided with 24/7 on call availability for your birth from 37 weeks to birth.

in person birth support begins when you make the call. as we discuss your birth preferences and understand physiological birth we will establish a plan together on when the best time will be for you to receive in person support during labor. in person support continues through labor, child birth, and into the immediate postpartum time (1-3 hours) in your birthing space.

  • this postpartum visit is a time we dedicate to reconnect with one another within the first week after you give birth. we will debrief your birth, discuss any additional support needs you may have, and ensure you continue feeling supported during your postpartum time. in addition, i will be providing mother centered support over the course of the 4 hour visit, which will include a nourishing meal (provided by me), physical support if preferred and emotional support- think nice meal, hot tea, foot massage, herbal bath, time to nap). if you are interested in extending this care on a more frequent basis in your postpartum time (some women hire additional 1-2 times a week for the first month postpartum) we can discuss!

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers… strong, competent, capable mothers, who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”
